Home of Arctic explorer Captain Bob Bartlett (1875-1946), the cottage houses many artifacts commemorating Bartlett's achievements and tell the story of family life in a small community. Honoured the world over for enabling American Commander Robert Edwin Peary to make his celebrated dash to the pole in 1909. For this, and other contributions during a lifelong career devoted to northern exploration, he was hailed as the greatest ice-navigator of the century.
During the Canadian Arctic expedition of 1913-18 under Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson, Captain Bartlett walked 700 miles across Arctic ice and down the Siberian coast to save 14 people on the ill-fated Karluk from certain death. This action earned Captain Bob Bartlett the following citation from marine historian Thomas Appleton: "the finest feat of leadership in Canadian Marine history."
On Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, a series of plays bring stories to life Captain Bob Bartlett. Performed by members of the Baccalieu Players, each of the four 20-minute theatrical presentations take place once a week throughout the months of July and August.

In 2006 St. George's Anglican Church was presented The Manning Award for "Excellence in the Public Presentation of Historic Places." The award was presented for outstanding leadership in preserving the church as a cultural venue for public enjoyment.

Recently restored and developed into a most unique showplace of Brigus history, with photographs dating back to 1876 and artifacts covering a period of over 200 years. Originally constructed in 1825. It was first used as a doctor's residence, then as a customs house, and converted to a barn around 1890. Purchase by the Brigus Historical Society in December 1987, it was reconstructed and opened to the general public as Ye Olde Stone Barn Museum on August 9, 1991.
Open daily mid-June to Labor Day and weekends in September and October to Thanksgiving. Admission: Adults $ 1.00, Children 50 cents. Group rates available. Group reservations requested.

An early engineering feat which took four months was accomplished in the summer of 1860 by the Cornish miner John Hoskins in order to provide easy access to Abram Bartlett's wharf. Holes formed by steel spikes driven into the solid rock and filled with black gun power was the method employed in the blasting process which resulted in a passageway measuring approximately 80 feet long, 8 feet high and 8 feet wide. Two of the steel spikes used in the construction of the Tunnel may be viewed at Ye Olde Stone Barn Museum.

The newspaper, The Vindicator & Brigus Reporter , was published here from 1898 to 1903, and was on sale every Wednesday on the streets of Brigus for 1 cent per copy. The building was constructed of stone and brick around 1820. The outline now remains of the original stone structure. Photos of the complete structure, as well , copies of the newspaper may be seen at Ye Olde Stone Barn Museum
